My task for this project was to create an information pack tailored to a specific cultural group who has arrived in Australia. The pack would provide refugees with the basic essential information to starting life in Australia. The refugee group that I chose to base this project on is the Yazidis group from northern Iraq.

 

The information pack was constructed in a way which allows the refugees to easily access information, and may utilize icon design to visualise important information to cultural groups who have a limited understanding of English.

 

I created a set of three A5 notebooks, which included an area guide, cultural customs guide and important documents guide. The designs for the books were inspired by the simple and minimal lifestyle of the Yazidis in Iraq. Each book uses the same overall design, however they each have a designated colour to easily identify each topic. A zip pouch is used to transport the books around and will conveniently fit into most small bags.
